Jazz Meets Raagas

Goethe-Institut presents 'Jazz Meets Raag' featuring Peter Weniger with his trio from Germany and Asif Sinan with his quartet for an unforgettable tour in 3 cities of Pakistan. The event is to extend the friendly relationship between Pakistan and Germany by introducing the Pakistani listeners to Jazz and Fusion music. The first show will be at the German Consulate in Karachi on 20th September followed by a show at the German Embassy in Islamabad on 21st September. The next show will be at Al-Hamra in Lahore on 22nd September followed by the last performance in Karachi at the Goethe-Intitut on 23rd September.

Peter Weniger :

Born in 1964, Peter Weniger started piano lessons at the age of five and at nine changed to classical clarinette on to saxophone at the age of 14.
Peter has released 11 Jazz CDs as a soloist. He has won international acclaim at numerous Jazz festivals in Europe, Carribean, India and Africa. Peter has also toured and recorded with many artists and ensambles, amongst others with Jaspervan't Hof's 'Pili Pili', Billy Cobham, Maceo Parker, Eddie Palmeri, Lionel Richie, Django Bates, Mike Stern and Andreas Kissnbeck's 'Club Boogaloo'.
He is currently the Head of the Woodwind Department at the Jazz Institute Berlin and will be performing for the first time in Pakistan with his Jazz trio.

Asif Sinan :

Asif Sinan, a summa cum laude music graduate, is being hailed as having introduced a new sound to the world of music by fusing Jazz with Indian Classical. Having begun learning the guitar at the age of 13, Asif sees Jazz and Classical as essentially being the same - the only differnce being their diction and accents.
Asif's debut track made it to the Top 10 charts of Pakistan while his recent eastern classical rendition of the National Anthem became a viral sensation. He has performed and collaborated with various international artisits sucha as The Ari Roland Jazz Quartet, the Stooges Brass Band and Mike Del Ferro. Asif Sinan performs with a quartet of promising musicians and together they produce a sound that has been billed as 'Jazzical'.
