About Arsalan Iqbal:
Iqbal first began experimenting in
design in 2006 following his graduation from the Oxford Brookes
University in London. With no professional studio or a facility to practice his
art, he used his apartment room as a makeshift workshop for his design work. An
MBA with further degrees in applied accounting and finance, Arsalan has also
worked as an assistant finance director and in a reputable automobile company,
before he decided to pursue his passion and take up fashion design full time as
a career. In 2010, he met Yahseer Javed, a fashion design
graduate who was working for leading designer Munib Nawaz, and in January
2011 they teamed up to launch their label. Under the Arsalan & Yahseer
label. Arsalan Iqbal now goes solo with the launch of hisw eponymous Arsalan
Iqbal brand.
To this end, the underlying design philosophy inherent in his brand is
to redefine the menswear tradition through an interpretation of that which is
wearable yet trendy, relaxed but bold and always in sync with contemporary life
and trends.
Indeed, as Creative
Director at his previous brand, Arsalan Iqbal constantly endeavoured to make
every day Eastern menswear vibrant and eclectic – a commitment he continues to
channel through his new label. To this end, the designer launched the now
acclaimed collection 'Rangeen' which was based in hand painted and block
printed traditional Eastern wear for men. With a constant passion for
innovation, Arsalan was also the first menswear designer in Pakistan to have
made a fashion video, which featured popular actor and model, Mohib Mirza and
was directed by Fayyaz Ahmed, for his previous label. As part of his former
label, he introduced the “Coloresqué” collection
at Fashion Pakistan Week in Karachi and then showcased their “Modern Sindh”
collection at the Islamabad Fashion Week. The brand further showcased their
“Urban Slick” collection at Fashion Pakistan Week 4 and “Spectular Blanc” at
the the recently concluded Fashion Pakistan Week 5.
