[Monday, 27th January 2014]: Jamal Rahman, acclaimed music producer and CEO of True
Brew Records, collaborated with LussunTV, Rafi Peer and Cityfm89 at Peeru’s Café on
Sunday 26th
The all-day live music festival brought together the best of Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore's
independent bands including Poor Rich Boy (and the Toothless Winos), Natasha Humera Ejaz,
Sikandar Ka Mandar, //orangenoise, Shajie, Ali Suhail, Red Blood Cat and Lower Sindh! and the
Swing Orchestra in a seven hour music extravaganza.
Speaking about ‘Storm in a Teacup’ music producer Jamal Rahman said, “The True Brew
Records show, Storm in a Teacup, was a bigger step forward in my pursuit of really pushing the
live music scene in Pakistan, that I first started with my ‘Live at True Brew’ shows. For Storm
in a Teacup, our focus was on the young, independent music scene, where we promoted indie
artists who came from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, just for this festival. At True Brew, I have
a lot more exciting live music planned for 2014 along with a fresh take on music for feature films
and singles, and I look forward to sharing this with everyone later this year.”
Indeed, True Brew Records was first conceptualised in 2009, with a vision of becoming the focal
hub for all genres of music in Pakistan. In December 2010, Jamal’s vision was put into motion
as True Brew Records was inaugurated as a unique platform providing recording space and
state-of-the-art production facilities for artists seeking to explore new sound as an alternative
to mainstream music producers. True Brew Records aspires to be the first independent record
label in Pakistan that provides a diverse array of services to artists and musicians, including and
not limited to, financial, musical, aesthetic, technical and distributional support.
