[Karachi, 29th March 2014] The National Finale for Pakistan of
L’Oréal’s signature international marketing competition; Brandstorm 2014
was won by Team Gravity of LUMS. The team comprising of 4th Year
students Syeda Saba Rashid, Muneeba Shoaib and Sidra Ahmed edged out
Farhan Syed, Hira Amjad & Usman Hayat of Team UHF, also from LUMS,
in the closely contested final of the competition held at Alliance
Française de Karachi on 28th March 2014.
Team Gravity
will now be provided an exclusive opportunity to travel to Paris to take
part in the International Finale of the contest which will be held in
June this year. The best 3 global teams will win a voucher for a team
trip to a destination of their choice worth €10,000, €5,000 and €2,500
respectively.
This year, L’Oréal Brandstorm was
introduced in Pakistan for the very first time in collaboration with
partner schools the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and
the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi (IBA) from where the
final 15 shortlisted students were selected.
After a
rigorous preliminary selection phase which commenced from December 2013
with a briefing session on L’Oréal Brandstorm and concluded in February
2014 with the campus finales, 15 students were shortlisted from both
partner institutions for the National Championship. The different teams
of shortlisted students gave presentations based on a specific case
study shared with them during the concluding phase of the competition,
after which the final results were announced.
The jury
for the National Championship comprised of L’Oréal Pakistan’s top
management including Managing Director Musharaf Hai, General Manager –
CPD Moazzam Ali Khan, General Manager – PPD Mona Hussain and HR Director
Khwaja Munir Kamil.

and to encourage young marketing professionals to come up with original
solutions for traditional and contemporary marketing problems. We are

L’Oréal Brandstorm was introduced by the global
beauty brand in 1992 and has since grown to become a global phenomenon,
featuring the participation of over 70,000 students hailing from more
than 300 campuses in 45 countries worldwide over the 22 years of its
existence. Indeed, the growing success of the platform can be gauged
from the participation of more than 10,000 students in 2013 alone.
